How often are X-rays needed?
It depends on your age, your history of decay and your gum health. Many adults with healthy mouths need bitewing X-rays once a year or less, and a full set or panoramic image every few years. We follow American Dental Association guidelines and take only the images that help us care for you.
Safety
The radiation from a set of digital dental X-rays is comparable to what you receive from natural background sources in a day or two. We use lead aprons and thyroid collars as an additional precaution. If you are pregnant, let us know so we can plan accordingly.
