At Livermore Dental Care, hygiene visits are gentle and unhurried. If your gums are tender or you have sensitive teeth, tell us. We can adjust our technique and, when helpful, use topical numbing so the visit is comfortable.

Why twice a year matters
Cavities and gum disease rarely hurt until they are advanced. Regular visits let us catch decay while a small filling will fix it, and catch gum inflammation while it is still reversible. Patients who keep up with cleanings also keep their natural teeth longer and spend less on dental care over a lifetime.
Common questions
Does a cleaning hurt?
A routine cleaning should not hurt. Some patients feel mild sensitivity around the gumline, especially if it has been a while since their last visit. Let your hygienist know and we will make adjustments.
Is a cleaning covered by insurance?
Most dental plans, including Delta Dental, cover two preventive cleanings and exams per year at little or no cost to you. We will verify your benefits before your visit.
